History
Belvedere Seniors Living in its various forms continues to be locally owned and operated and has been managing care facilities for over 25 years in British Columbia.
The Evertt family as the owners have been involved with seniors’ services since 1952 demonstrating a commitment to seniors’ care and well-being.
Rev. Ben Evertt built and operated Evertt Rest Home in Burnaby from 1952 to 1959 with a desire to provide a safe and caring environment for his mother. He built and operated Aaron Heights Guest Home from 1961 – 1968. And, in 1979, Rev. Ben Evertt along with his wife Myrtle Evertt purchased Grand Street Lodge in Mission.
In 1984, their son Berton Evertt took over the family care business at Grand Street Lodge. In 1986, he purchased Cherington Place Surrey, British Columbia. The construction and development tradition continued with a 30- bed expansion to Grand Street Lodge in 1989. In 1989, Berton Evertt purchased Deer Lake Private Hospital, as a base for re-development into a larger multi-level private hospital.
The name was changed from Deer Lake Private Hospital to Belvedere Care Centre when the private hospital services were re-located from the Deer Lake area within Burnaby to the French Quarter of Coquitlam, Maillardville. The new location has a beautiful view of the Fraser River and surrounding vistas hence the French word – Belvedere – for beautiful view. Thus, the corporate name for our operations was changed to Belvedere Seniors Living.
Belvedere Seniors Living currently owns and operates Belvedere Care Centre which is co located to Residences at Belvedere a Registered Assisted Living Center providing a Campus of Care in Coquitlam as well as Cherington Place, a Licensed Care Facility located in Surrey.
All of our facilities are orientated to seniors’ accommodation and supports. The majority of our services are funded by Fraser Health. Other services are funded in combination with BC Housing, and other Provincial and Federal Agencies, insurance companies and/or obtained on a private pay basis by clients and their families.
